In this 4-year project (2015-2018), UPEI and Farmers Helping Farmers (FHF) will partner with three Kenyan institutions – KenyattaUniversity, University of Nairobi, and Naari Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS). Naari DCS is located in a remote area north of Meru, Kenya, with over 3000 smallholder dairy farmers. In this area, farming families are requesting training on evidence-based best management practices for cattle health management, family nutrition, and crop risk mitigation in the face of climate change. Currently, there is very limited access to university or college educated animal health personnel or nutritionists in this area to provide this support. In Kenya, dairy farming reduces poverty.
